Deep sleep (suṣupti) is named Prājña — "the knower." There is no division between subject and object, no desire, no dream-imagery. The nineteen faculties dissolve into a single undifferentiated awareness. The Upanishad calls this state "ānandamaya" — full of bliss — because the absence of all conflict is bliss.
Meaning
Where one asleep desires no desire and sees no dream — that is deep sleep. The third quarter is Prājña — unified, a mass of consciousness, full of bliss, enjoyer of bliss, with awareness as its mouth.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
