atharvaṇe yāṃ pravadeta brahmātharvā tāṃ purovācāṅgire brahmavidyām | sa bhāradvājāya satyavahāya prāha bhāradvājo'ṅgirase parāvarām
Five-step lineage — Brahmā, Atharvā, Aṅgir, Bhāradvāja, Aṅgiras. Notice 'parāvarām' (both higher and lower) — Aṅgiras receives the full curriculum. The teacher who appears next must have the complete framework before teaching even one student.
Meaning
That knowledge which Brahmā gave to Atharvā, Atharvā taught to Aṅgir. He taught it to Bhāradvāja Satyavāha; Bhāradvāja taught it, both higher and lower, to Aṅgiras.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
